Interior & exterior painting in Aztec, NM
Aztec is a short drive up US-550 from Bloomfield, and it is one of our favorite towns to paint. The county seat has character — and its older homes reward careful prep.

Painters who know Aztec homes
Around historic Main Avenue and the streets near the Animas River, many Aztec homes are older wood-sided houses with porches, decorative trim and several layers of paint already on them. Those need patience: scraping loose paint, sanding edges smooth, priming bare wood and re-caulking joints so the new coat lies flat and lasts. Rushing that step is why paint peels in two years instead of lasting ten.
Further out, toward the Aztec Ruins National Monument and the newer subdivisions on the edges of town, you find more stucco and frame homes, plus barns, shops and fences on larger lots. We paint and seal all of it, and we coat metal roofs on outbuildings to keep them cooler in summer.
Winters in Aztec run cold and the Animas Valley holds moisture, so we plan exterior jobs for the right temperatures and give coatings time to cure. Inside, we take on everything from a single room to a full repaint of a family home, with careful masking and a clean house at the end of every day.
